ICQ has reopened the registrations for their ICQ 6 Preview version. A limited number of users can now register again to participate in the ICQ 6 Beta. For more information see this older news item: ICQ6 Preview .

We know many of you have been wondering what's going on with the
registration. After many weeks of users testing the ICQ 6 Preview
Version successfully, we're eager to open the gates to even more users.
In that, we've now opened more slots for registration. Also, anyone
registered for the ICQ 6 Preview Version has the opportunity to invite
two friends instead of one.
We would like to express our thanks to all of our
users who are testing out the ICQ Preview Version and giving us
valuable feedback. Keep the feedback coming! Spread the news that the
ICQ Preview Version is out, and we will keep you updated on our future
plans!

Welcome to the new and improved version of IMDLC.com, the oldest ICQ file repository on the internet.
With this update the file repository will now be partly user driven. This means that our users can upload their skin files to the file repository or submit other content such as links more easily.
At the moment we are adding more content, articles and files for you, so take a look around.
Please also stop by our forums and join the discussions about new ICQ versions or ICQ customization tricks.

has posted some information about the next version of the ICQ instant
messaging client, ICQ6! There's not a lot to see yet, no download, no
screenshots, but they are taking registrations for beta versions of ICQ
6 when it's ready. So if you want to try out ICQ 6 beta when it's
available, head over to http://download.icq.com/download/preview/ and register.
Despite
the lack of visuals, there's a lot of bits of information hinted at by
the ICQ developers as to what we can expect of ICQ 6. They have set up
an ICQ6 blog and a "Try ICQ 6 Preview" message board. While they aren't saying much yet, here are a few of the interesting hints I've noticed:
- ICQ 6 will be a big update
- Features may reappear from older ICQ versions (real-time chat maybe?)
- Simplified message sending with fewer clicks
- "more than one way to IM in ICQ."
- The screens and functionality have been rearranged
- Different, but still green-based colour themes
